Wantage Hospital drastically cuts services yet local Tory MP proud of the Government’s record - an out of touch MP in denial

Wantage Hospital bed closures and withdrawal of rehabilitation and palliative care has been blamed on Legionella, but the real culprit was lack of funding. Our Tory MP opposed Labour’s National Health Service Bill which would have restored political accountability whilst  claiming to support the NHS. The NHS is on life support but he said 'Government has actively supported the NHS' and 'each day there are more operations, more people seen in A&E within four hours and more people accessing mental health services'. Similar rhetoric is repeated nationally by the Secretary of State for Health and our Government, all of whom are out of touch.

Why are 3.6 million people on waiting lists? Why are there extensive cuts? Why have mental health services been decimated? Why do ambulances queue at A&E? Why are maternity services closing? Why are cancer patients having their operations cancelled?

With 200 acute beds in Oxfordshire due to close, bed closures at Wantage and on their way at Didcot, and Wallingford threatened, our local NHS is being dismantled. Labour will fight all this as it has to stop and stop right now. A Labour Government will protect and restore the NHS services we need and keep them free at the point of delivery.
