WANTAGE CONSTITUENCY

 

A business consultant with the Government’s Financial Services Authority will fight the Tory-held Wantage-Didcot Faringdon-Wallingford parliamentary seat for Labour at the next General Election.

Mr Mitchell, a life-long supporter of the Labour Party, was brought up in London with his brother, by their mother, following the early death of his father. Steven said; “I am looking forward to getting to know the constituency, the people in it and getting to grips with local issues. I want to ensure voters get better services”. Constituency Chair Neville Harris said: “Steven’s CV shows a wide experience in business and industry. He has successfully delivered multi million pound projects on time and on budget, showing he possesses qualities which can make a difference for local people”. He was educated at Manchester University. With a background in project engineering, applied to oil, gas and marine safety projects, Steven has worked in many parts of the world, including North Africa, Brazil the Amazon Jungle and Alaska as well as Europe. His career has also taken him to the US, Australia, Korea and Japan, where he worked as an English teacher. More recently, as a freelance consultant he has been working on an Internet based project with the FSA. Steven is an experienced scuba diver, having completed more than 500 dives as a qualified instructor. He is also a keen cyclist, clocking up around 150 miles per week.
